Choosing the Right AOOSTAR Mini PC
-
Check Processor Needs
You should match the CPU to your workload. The MACO models use Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H or Zen 4 chips for strong performance. If you need barebone flexibility, the MACO Ryzen 7 H 255 allows you to choose your own components. For heavy NAS tasks, the WTR PRO uses a Ryzen 7 processor. Ensure the silicon meets your multitasking demands before buying.
-
Evaluate Storage Options
Storage capacity varies significantly across the lineup. The MACO AMD Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H comes with a 1TB SSD pre-installed. Other models are barebone, meaning you must add RAM and SSDs yourself. The WTR MAX is designed for extensive drive bays, supporting up to 11 drives. Consider whether you need a pre-built unit or the freedom to expand storage later.
-
Compare Networking Specs
All listed units feature 2.5G LAN for faster local transfers. The WTR MAX stands out with 10G networking for high-speed data moves. The MACO series often includes dual 2.5G LAN ports. This setup helps if you connect multiple devices or need redundant connections. Check if WiFi 6 is included, as seen on the MACO Ryzen 7 PRO model, for wireless flexibility.
-
Select Form Factor
Size matters for your desk or mount. The MACO Ryzen 7 H 255 is compact, weighing 1.46 pounds. It measures 5.12 inches wide and 2.36 inches high. The MACO Ryzen 7 PRO is heavier at 3.35 pounds. The WTR series is larger to accommodate NAS bays. Choose the barebone options if you want to customize internals, or the pre-built units for immediate use.
-
Review Expansion Ports
Look for OcuLink and USB4 for high-bandwidth expansion. The MACO Ryzen 7 H 255 and the MACO Ryzen 7 PRO both offer OcuLink. This port allows you to connect external GPUs or fast storage arrays. The WTR MAX provides extensive bay expansion for internal drives. Verify that the ports match your peripheral requirements before finalizing your purchase.
