How these options differ
HP EliteDesk 800 Mini i5 32GB RAM
The HP EliteDesk 800 Mini shares the same 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD configuration as the MINISFORUM MS-01. It targets business multitasking rather than homelab networking. You lose the dual 10Gbps SFP+ ports and PCIe expansion slots found in the MS-01. This model prioritizes wired reliability and dual 4K display support for office environments. If you do not need enterprise-class storage expansion or high-bandwidth networking, this HP unit offers a stable alternative for standard professional tasks. It is a simpler tool for users who value standard connectivity over specialized hardware acceleration.
MINISFORUM MS-01 Core i5 Workstation
This MINISFORUM MS-01 variant includes WiFi 6E, adding wireless flexibility missing from the base model. It retains the i5-12600H processor and 32GB RAM for high-bandwidth workstations. You gain wireless connectivity for network storage setups while keeping the internal NVMe expansion capabilities. This option suits professionals building home labs who require both wired 10Gbps speeds and modern wireless standards. It is the better choice if you need to connect devices without cables. The core performance remains identical, but the added networking interface provides more versatility for diverse workspace layouts.
Dell Optiplex Mini PC with Dual 32-Inch Monitors
The Dell Optiplex setup includes dual 32-inch curved monitors, creating a complete desktop experience. It matches the 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD specs but focuses on screen real estate. You sacrifice the compact standalone form factor of the MS-01 for a larger, integrated workstation. This choice is for users who want a ready-to-use system without buying peripherals separately. It lacks the specialized networking ports of the MS-01. If your priority is immediate usability with large displays for multitasking, this Dell bundle offers convenience. It is less suitable for those needing a small footprint for rack mounting.
HP Tiny PC with Dual 32-inch Curved Monitors
The HP G5 Tiny bundle also provides dual 32-inch curved monitors with 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. It targets users seeking a complete setup with high memory. Like the Dell option, it prioritizes storage and screen space over compact standalone design. You give up the MS-01’s high-speed networking and expansion slots. This HP model is ideal for those who want a plug-and-play desktop with Windows 11. It fits environments where monitor inclusion is essential. If you need a dedicated workstation with ample display area, this bundle is practical. It is not suitable for homelab networking tasks requiring specific port configurations.
Lenovo ThinkCentre Intel i5 32GB Mini PC
The Lenovo ThinkCentre M720Q offers 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD in a quiet home office form factor. It measures 13.5 by 2.5 by 19 inches, making it larger than the MS-01. You lose the high-speed networking and PCIe expansion capabilities. This Lenovo unit is designed for quiet computing and stable performance. It suits home users who value silence over cutting-edge speed. The operating system is Windows 11 Pro, ensuring professional features. If you need a reliable machine for daily tasks without specialized hardware, this Lenovo model is a solid choice. It is less appropriate for users requiring extensive storage expansion or fast data transfer.
Dell OptiPlex Micro Core i5 Desktop
The Dell OptiPlex 3070 Micro provides 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD in a 13.3 by 12.1 by 4-inch chassis. It targets business users needing stable performance and large storage. You give up the MS-01’s dual 10Gbps ports and internal drive expansion. This Dell model is a dedicated workstation for professionals who value reliability. It fits users who need a powerful desktop that sits neatly on a desk. The Windows 11 Pro OS ensures compatibility with business software. If you prioritize stability and storage capacity over high-speed networking, this OptiPlex is a good fit. It is not ideal for virtualization setups requiring extensive hardware flexibility.
